Becker nets two first half goals to send Warriors on way to victory
Junior Alyson Becker (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) scored a pair of goals and classmate Lauren Ventrella (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) posted a goal and assist to lead East Stroudsburg to victory. The Warriors also got goals from senior Amanda McGuire (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) and sophomore Gabrielle Seibert (Milton, Pa./Milton) on the afternoon.
Senior Maureen Ordnung (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) and junior Sarah Dobroskey (Exeter, Pa./Exeter) combined on the shutout in goal for East Stroudsburg. Ordnung made eight saves over the first 62:13, while Dobroskey was untested in the final 7:47.
Junior Kaitlyn Curtis (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) made her first collegiate start in the cage for Stonehill and finished with six saves in 62:13. Freshman Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) posted a stop over the final 7:47 of her collegiate debut.
East Stroudsburg finished with a 21-13 advantage in shots for the match, including 14-5 in the opening half. Becker scored the Warriors first two goals of the match, opening the scoring at 17:25, assisted by freshman Becky Gagliardi (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus), before scoring off a Ventrella feed at 32:09. McGuire sent ESU into halftime with a 3-0 advantage her marker with just five seconds left.
Seibert opened the second half scoring 10:27 in, before Ventrella capped the scoring at 54:57.
Stonehill (0-1, 0-0 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow when it visits No. 3-ranked Bloomsburg University for a match at noon. East Stroudsburg (1-0, 0-0 PSAC) hosts Merrimack College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
