Stonehill's All-Time Academic All-District® honorees

EASTON, Mass. (May 12, 2023) – Stonehill College senior Steffi Antao has been recognized for her efforts on the tennis court and in the classroom by being named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District® team for women's tennis by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).

Antao earns Academic All-District® honors for the first time in her career with the organization separating men's and women's tennis out from the At Large program for the first time this year. She is the third student-athlete in women's tennis history at Stonehill to collect Academic All-District® honors, joining Analise Kump, '16 and Samantha Ormesher, '21 during their senior seasons as well. Antao is one of just two Northeast Conference women's tennis student-athletes named to the Academic All-District® list.

Antao has achieved a 3.67 cumulative grade point average as a biology major at Stonehill, earning Dean's List honors. She is a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete that was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Academic Honor Roll all six semesters prior to Stonehill's transition to NCAA Division I this year, with Academic Distinction status for having a semester grade point average of 3.50-3.99 five of those semesters, also being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll all seven semesters to date.

Antao has represented the women's tennis program on Stonehill's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the last three years and has been a student facilitator for the College's First Year Experience program. She completed an independent research project relevant to her academic major, to learn about endocrinology, focusing on stress, insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. She is a member of the Anchors Leadership Society and the Pre-Health Society at Stonehill, also serving as a tutor in the College's science department. Off campus, Antao has served as a volunteer in the pediatric department at Northwell Hospital and member of the volunteer rescue team as a certified EMT for the fire department in her hometown.

Antao enjoyed a successful playing career over her four years on the Stonehill women's tennis team, helping the program to a pair of NE10 Championships and two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, reaching the East Region Championship match in 2021. She has posted a 58-36 combined record in singles and doubles play over her four-year career, including a 35-19 combined mark in Conference play. She earned All-NE10 first team honors at No. 3 singles as a freshman in 2019 and third team accolades at No. 3 doubles that season, with playing partner Caroline Ray, '20.

Antao is 27-19 in singles matches over her career, including 18-9 in Conference play, seeing most of her time at No. 2 singles, earning a No. 10 ranking in the Oracle/ITA Division II East Region singles rankings over the course of her career. Antao is 31-17 in doubles play in her career, including a 17-10 Conference mark, posting a 17-10 career mark at the top flight, primarily paired with classmate Cristina Solorzano Valencia. The duo combined to earn the highest regional ranking in program history at No. 3 and reached the championship match of the 2021 United States Tennis Association (USTA)/ITA Division II East Regional Championship. Antao also reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 ITA East Regional Doubles Championship with former partner Isabelle Porter, '21.

Stonehill completed its inaugural NCAA Division I season with a 6-9 overall dual match record. The Skyhawks posted a 7-0 win over College of the Holy Cross in September and also competed in five NEC matches in its first year as Conference members.
