Women’s Soccer Earns Late Win at Daemen, 2-1

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (October 7, 2021) - Freshman Karleigh Schultz's first career goal with 1:29 remaining in regulation lifted Stonehill College to a 2-1 triumph over Daemen College in a non-conference women's soccer match at Williamsville South High School this afternoon.

The Details

  • Schultz's winner came off a scrum at the top of the 18 which saw sophomore Meghan Lord head the ball towards the center of the penalty area where Schultz was able to redirect over the keeper and into the upper left corner of the goal in just the fourth appearance of her collegiate career.
  • The goal also made a winner of freshman Kylee Colclough who was making her collegiate debut in the Stonehill goal and finished with four saves.
  • Junior Tori DeLappi registered 11 saves in the Daemen goal as Stonehill posted a 21-14 advantage for shots, including 13-5 on target.

  • Colclough made four saves in her first collegiate start and appearance in the Skyhawks goal.
    Stonehill opened the scoring in the 20th minute as senior Camryn Thompson netted her fourth goal of the season. She took a pass from the left side of the field and cut past a defender before firing a shot into the left side of the goal from just inside the top of the 18.
  • Daemen leveled the match in the 34th minute when senior Katelyn Sidoti scored her first career goal off a corner kick by sophomore Madita Zeitz.

Stonehill (4-6-1, 2-5-1 NE10) is off until next Wednesday, October 13, when it visits Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a non-conference clash at 2 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday, October 16, to host the University of Maine-Fort Kent as part of Homecoming Weekend at the College at 11 a.m. Daemen (5-4-0, 4-0-0 ECC) hosts Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
