Thompson scores and Copley keeps clean sheet in Skyhawks win

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 18, 2021) – Stonehill College got a goal midway through the first half and made it stand up with a strong defensive effort in posting a 1-0 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Ted Grant Field this afternoon.

How it Happened

  • Senior forward Camryn Thompson netted her first goal of the season in the 28th minute with a long carry down the right side into the center of the 18, for a low shot into the right corner.
  • Stonehill's defense did the rest, holding Le Moyne to just three shots in the match, just one in the second half, as junior Hanna Copley registered three saves to notch her first career shutout.

    Stonehill dominated the shots in the match, finishing with 18. Le Moyne junior Allison Moreau made ten saves to keep the Dolphins in the match.

Noteworthy

  • Thompson's much awaited first goal of the season is the 18th of her career, having added eight assists for 44 points in 45 career matches played. It's her sixth career matchwinner.
  • Stonehill's backline of juniors Peyton Nickerson, Bella MacNeil and Hannah Guidi, along with freshman Hannah Wheeldon were strong in front of Copley in the defensive effort.
