Women’s Soccer Draws Saint Michael’s, 1-1 (2OT)

EASTON, Mass. (September 21, 2021) – Both teams struck early and then went scoreless the rest of the way as Stonehill College and Saint Michael's College, ranked No. 7 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division II East Region rankings, played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action on Skyhawk Field this afternoon.

The Details

  • Stonehill and Saint Michael's College traded early goals and then played over 100-scoreless minutes in a 1-1 double-overtime draw in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Skyhawk Field this afternoon.
  • Junior back Hannah Guidi opened the scoring just 5:39 into the match with she delivered a service from the right channel that deflected off a Saint Michael's defender's head and into the top shelf of the net for the first goal of her collegiate career.
  • Saint Michael's equalized less than two minutes later as junior Paulina Valentine struck from 30 yards out that found the top of the net at 7:05.
  • Stonehill looked poised for a winner in the second half but was unable to get any of its ten second half shots past Saint Michael's junior Katie Escobedo, who finished with five saves for the afternoon.
  • Junior Hanna Copley made one save in the Stonehill goal.
