EASTON, Mass. (July 27, 2021) – The Stonehill College women's lacrosse team has earned Academic Honor Squad status from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for having a team grade point average of 3.20 or higher for the 2020-21 academic year.

Stonehill, which recorded a team GPA of 3.28 in 2020-21, is among 319 women's lacrosse programs from NCAA Divisions I, II, III and the NAIA to earn IWLCA Academic Honor Squad status for the year. It marks the first time the Skyhawks have received the recognition since 2018 and they are among 55 NCAA Division II programs to earn Academic Honor Squad recognition, including nine from the Northeast-10 Conference.

Nine of the NE10's 14 women's lacrosse programs recorded a team GPA of 3.20 or higher for the academic year, with Stonehill joining Adelphi University, Assumption University, Bentley University, Le Moyne College, Pace University, Saint Michael's College, Southern New Hampshire University and the University of New Haven with Academic Honor Squad status.

Stonehill women's lacrosse had 23 of its 27 student-athletes on the 2021 roster named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll this spring for having a semester GPA of 3.00 or better. 12 of those Skyhawks recorded a semester GPA of 3.50 or better, including fifth-year goalkeeper Bailey Grant who received Academic Excellence status on the NE10 Honor Roll with a perfect 4.0 semester GPA this spring. The Skyhawks had 20 student-athletes named to the College's Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.20-plus semester GPA.

Sophomore Lydia Rudden received the Saint Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative GPA on the team and earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors.

Stonehill finished its 2021 season fifth in the NE10's Northeast Division with a 4-6 record overall and in the NE10. The Skyhawks season was highlighted by a 10-9 victory over then No. 15-ranked Assumption at W.B. Mason Stadium on April 3. Grant and senior Kaleigh Wright earned NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks, with Grant also being named the IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week on April 7. Junior Emma Sullivan was named the NE10 Northeast Division Midfielder of the Year and earned IWLCA All-East Region honors, while freshman Molly Mae Hughes was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.
