IWLCA Announces 2021 Division II All-Region Teams

EASTON, Mass. (May 20, 2021) – Stonehill College junior midfielder Emma Sullivan has earned All-East Region honors for the first time with her selection to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II All-East Region second team by the organization's head coaches, it was announced today.

Sullivan, the Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division's Midfielder of the Year, earns All-Region honors for the first time. It marks Stonehill's first All-Region selection since Taylor Shannahan, '18 earned her second of two All-Region honors in 2018. Sullivan was the Skyhawks first NE10 Midfielder of the Year since Kelsey Reilly, '13 earned the honors in the first year of the award's existence in 2013. Sullivan also earned All-NE10 third team honors this spring after being an NE10 All-Rookie Team pick in 2019.

Sullivan started all nine games for Stonehill this spring and finished third on the team with 26 points, while her 21 goals are second on the team, to go with six assists. She tallied a team-high 50 draw controls (6th NE10) and 24 ground balls, while adding nine caused turnovers to rank second on the team. She ranks second in the NE10 and 24th nationally in Division II with her 5.6 draw controls per game, while ranking fifth with 2.7 ground balls per game.

Sullivan totaled a career-best six points with a career-high matching five goals and an assist in Stonehill's 21-5 win at Southern New Hampshire University on March 24. She scored multiple goals in six of her nine games played, adding four in a 16-5 home win over SNHU on April 24. Sullivan collected a career-high 11 draw controls against Franklin Pierce University on March 17, while she also added five ground balls, two caused turnovers and three goals.

Sullivan has started 29 of 31 games over her Stonehill career, totaling 60 goals and 15 assists for 75 points, with 59 ground balls, 85 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers. She received the College's "Spring Breakout Sophomore" Award in 2020 and has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll for her efforts in the classroom.

Stonehill finished its 2021 season fifth in the NE10's Northeast Division with a 4-6 record overall and in the NE10. The Skyhawks season was highlighted by a 10-9 victory over then No. 15-ranked Assumption University at W.B. Mason Stadium on April 3. Stonehill fifth-year Bailey Grant and senior Kaleigh Wright earned NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks, with Grant also being named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Defensive Player of the Week on April 7. In addition to Sullivan's IWLCA and NE10 honors, freshman Molly Mae Hughes was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.
