EASTON, Mass. (April 21, 2021) – Stonehill College celebrated Senior Day with a 16-5 triumph over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

How it Happened

  • Stonehill scored the first six goals of the game on its way to a 7-1 halftime lead, keyed by eight first half saves by senior Kaleigh Wright and three first half markers from junior Emma Sullivan.
  • Freshman Abby Ahearn scored the first of her two first half goals to put Stonehill in front with a free position goal three minutes into the game.
  • Sullivan scored three of the next four Stonehill goals within a nine-minute stretch that extended the Skyhawks lead to 5-0.
  • Senior Shannon Hughes capped the Stonehill run with her first goal of the day, while also contributing a pair of first half assists, with 5:41 remaining in the half.
  • Sophomore Skylar Renaud broke through for Southern New Hampshire with her first of two goals with 3:38 remaining in the half.
  • Ahearn answered just 31-seconds later with her second of the half, assisted by Hughes, with 3:07 left to close out the first half scoring.
  • Stonehill scored three goals in the opening two minutes of the second half, including two from Hughes 28-seconds apart, to open a nine-goal cushion and never looked back.
  • Stonehill got goals from seven different players in the nine-goal second half. Only Hughes, along with sister, freshman, Molly Mae Hughes, had multiple goals over the final 30-minutes.

Noteworthy

  • Prior to the game, Stonehill recognized its five seniors playing in the final home game of their careers: fifth-year goalkeeper, Shannon Hughes, Liz Katsoulis, Olivia Pino and Wright.
  • Shannon Hughes and sophomore Lydia Rudden led Stonehill with six points apiece. Hughes had three goals and three assists, while Rudden dished out a career-high matching five assists to go with a goal.
  • Sullivan contributed four goals, three draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
  • Ahearn registered the first multi-goal game of her career, while sophomore Kayla Conway matched her season-high with two goals.
  • Wright finished with the eight first half saves over 30 minutes, before Grant played the second half in the Stonehill goal and tallied four stops.
  • Junior Caela McCartney went the distance in the SNHU goal and had 11 saves.
  • Renaud led SNHU with two goals, adding five draw controls, a ground ball and caused turnover.
