How it Happened

  • Stonehill jumped out to a 6-1 lead after ten minutes, keyed by a goal and three assists by senior Shannon Hughes, as well as a pair of markers by junior Emma Sullivan, on its way to a 13-3 halftime lead and didn't look back.
  • Sullivan scored five goals in the first half in all to lead a Stonehill team that got its 13 first half scores from seven different players.
  • Hughes opened the scoring with a free-position goal 2:28 into the contest, before sophomore Lydia Rudden doubled the Stonehill lead less than two minutes later.
  • Postgrad Dani Tompkins got SNHU on the scoreboard with an unassisted tally 5:19 into the game, but Stonehill responded with four goals within the span of 1:36 to stretch its lead to five (6-1) after Sullivan's second of the half, 9:49 into the game.
  • After sophomore Skylar Renaud momentarily quieted the Stonehill run with a goal with 8:51 remaining in the half, Stonehill outscored the Penmen 5-1 the rest of the frame to take the ten-goal lead (13-3) into halftime. Sullivan scored twice to cap her five-goal half, while Hughes added a goal and assist and Rudden dished two assists.
  • Rudden opened the second half scoring 1:03 into the frame, assisted by Hughes, before Tompkins added her second of the day two minutes later for SNHU.
  • Stonehill put the game away from there, scoring the next six goals, the first three out of the stick of Hughes, to open a 20-4 lead with 6:06 to play.
