Stonehill Opts Out of NE10 Women’s Lacrosse Championship

Skyhawks finish season fifth in Northeast Division

EASTON, Mass. (April 28, 2021) – Stonehill College has announced that its women's lacrosse team will opt out of the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament per the established institutional and NE10 health protocols.

"We are saddened and disappointed that our season has to end this way," said Stonehill head coach Katie Conover, '03. "This year has proven to be a lesson in versatility, resiliency and fighting through adversity. Although there are too many games left un-played, I know that the life lessons this team has learned will serve them well and give them an opportunity to come back better and stronger next year. Our senior class has taught us all to find the positives in the most negative of situations, and wherever it ends we are all lucky to be there with one another, as a team."

Stonehill finished its 2021 season fifth in the NE10's Northeast Division with a 4-6 record overall and in the NE10. The Skyhawks season was highlighted by a 10-9 victory over then No. 15-ranked Assumption University at W.B. Mason Stadium on April 3. Stonehill fifth-year Bailey Grant and senior Kaleigh Wright earned NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks, with Grant also being named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Defensive Player of the Week on April 7.
