Dyring-Andersen and Zukow Earn NEWHA Weekly Awards

 

EASTON, Mass. (October 27, 2023) – Junior goalkeeper Hanna Zukow and first-year defender Pusle Dyring-Andersen were named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance's (NEWHA) Goalie, Defensive Player, and Rookie of the Week the league announced on Tuesday, October 24.

Zukow earned their second win and second shutout of the season in Saturday's two-game weekend series conclusion against Saint Anselm, 4-0. For the weekend, Zukow posted 59 total saves and a .952 save percentage. Zukow now ranks in the top-15 nationally with 204 total saves on the season.

The Unionville, Ontario native has now been named NEWHA Goaltender of the Week six times throughout their career. This most recent weekly award matches their season total from a season ago where they earned three throughout the duration of the 2022-23 campaign.

Dyring-Andersen took home a pair of weekly awards on Tuesday after being named both the Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week. The Trosa, Stockholm native recorded her first collegiate point after netting her first collegiate goal in the Skyhawks opening game against Saint Anselm College on Friday, Oct. 21.

The first-year student also came up clutch inside the Stonehill defensive zone, blocking six shots in her two games on the weekend, leading both teams and earning the Skyhawks a weekend split. Dyring-Andersen now leads her squad with 16 total blocks on the season.

Stonehill (2-6-0, 2-2-0 NEWHA) continues its conference slate this weekend with a home-and-home series against Assumption University. Puck drop between the Skyhawks and Greyhounds on Friday is set for 7 P.M., from the Worcester Ice Center.
