Kendall Wagner Joins Women’s Ice Hockey Coaching Staff

Minneapolis native and former Augsburg captain joins Skyhawks with five years of coaching experience

EASTON, Mass. (August 30, 2023) – Stonehill College has named Kendall Wagner as a full-time assistant coach for the women's ice hockey program for the upcoming season. The announcement was made today by head coach Lee-J Mirasolo.

"Kendall is a go-getter who is dedicated to and passionate about developing players and people," said Mirasolo. "Her values align with those of Stonehill women's ice hockey, as she takes a 'people-first' approach to coaching. We are so excited to welcome someone who embodies authenticity, compassion, and honesty into the program!"

Kendall joins Stonehill fresh off her experience at the USA National Festival with the full USA Women's National Team in Lake Placid, New York, earlier this month. She also gained international coaching experience with the USA U-15 National Camp in July.

Kendall served two years as an assistant coach/defensive coordinator with the Hill Murray School girls varsity ice hockey program in Maplewood, Minnesota. One of the top prep hockey programs in the State of Minnesota, the Pioneers posted a 24-4-1 record last winter, was ranked No. 2 in the state among Class AA teams and reached the sectional title game.

Prior to Hill-Murray, Kendall was assistant coach/defensive coordinator at for the varsity girls' program at The Blake School in Minneapolis for four seasons. She served one year as the Bears' JV coach before joining the varsity coaching staff for a program that would qualify for a pair of Class AA postseason appearances and post over 20-wins a season.

Kendall also gained coaching experience as a co-director and coach in the Premier Prep League for two years with the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches' Association.

Kendall is a 2015 graduate of Augsburg University in Minneapolis, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a four-year member of the Auggies' women's ice hockey program, serving as team captain and representing the team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she was elected president.

Stonehill completed its inaugural season with a 19-16-2 record overall, including a 14-9-1 clip in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA). The Skyhawks earned the No. 3 seed in the NEWHA Tournament and advanced to the semifinal round in its first year. Stonehill opens its 2023-24 schedule with an exhibition game at Boston College on Saturday, September 23, at 1 p.m., before opening the regular season the following weekend with a two-game series at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on September 29-20. The Skyhawks home opener is the following weekend, October 6-7, against the University of Maine at 5 and 1 p.m., respectively. Stonehill opens its NEWHA season by hosting Post University on October 13-14. All Stonehill women's ice hockey home games are played at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.
