The Details

  • Stonehill wasted no time in the opening frame less than two minutes in (01:56) when Walkom found Achtyl in the slot and she put home the opening goal after it deflected off Lavender's glove. From there, Zukow and the Skyhawks defense held the Purple Knights to just seven shots and shut down three power place chances for Saint Michael's.
  • As the second half got underway, the Purple and White doubled their lead just 07:23 in the frame. Petford sent a backhanded pass through the air which led to a Sacca breakaway and she beat the Saint Michael's netminder for her sixth goal on the year.
  • Just a little over 10 minutes in the final period (11:41), Whaley put home a backhanded shot past Lavender despite the tough angle. Six minutes later (17:25), Petford increased Stonehill's lead to four (4-0) when she took a giveaway in the slot and beat Lavender glove side.
  • Despite the Purple Knights scoring with 25 seconds left, Petford potted her second goal of the day with 10 seconds left after Carey sent a great cross pass which allowed Petford to beat Lavender on the right side. With her two goals, Petford is now up to 24 which currently leads the nation.
