EASTON, Mass. (January 10, 2023)- After a hard-fought split against Sacred Heart University in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Maddison Achtyl was named Rookie of the Week and Hanna Zukow was named Goalie of the week. For Achtyl, it is her first weekly NEWHA award, and Zukow claimed her third Goalie Of The Week award.

Achtyl made her presence known in both games this weekend as the freshman forward scored in each game including the opening goal for Stonehill Friday that knotted the game at one. On Saturday's 2-1 win, Achtyl scored the eventual game-winning goal at 06:43 which made it 2-0 in a game where goals were hard to come by. Achtyl has now potted two game-winning goals on the year with her previous one coming against Franklin Pierce in a 4-1 win (Oct. 28). With her two-goal weekend, Achtyl is now one of five Skyhawks with five or more goals this year (seven).

Meanwhile, Zukow ended up with 55 saves across the two games against Sacred Heart. She made 30 saves on 34 shots in the 4-3 opener on Friday but then delivered 25 saves on 26 shots in Saturday's 2-1 win. For Zukow, it marked her 10th game of the season with 25 or more saves. With her strong performance over the weekend, Zukow is now ranked within the top five of multiple categories including goals-against average (2.56-fourth), save percentage (.918-fifth), saves (446-fifth), and win percentage (.531-fourth). She is just one of four goaltenders in the NEWHA with a winning percentage above .500.

Stonehill continues NEWHA play with a two-game home and home next Friday, January 13 at Franklin Pierce with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
