The Details

  • Both sides played a tightly contested first period that saw Stonehill slightly outshoot Post by an 8-7 margin. Despite being outshot, Post had two great opportunities to get on the board first power play chances. However, even with the extra skater advantage twice, the Stonehill penalty kill and Stone kept the Eagles off the board.
  • Nearly 10 minutes into the second (11:27), Post struck first courtesy of Browning after she got the puck from Terrazzano. Even with the early lead, Stonehill responded with 05:33 left in the period when Sonntag corralled the lost puck near center ice and pushed down toward Saunders after she made a nice move to get past an Eagles defender. Once she lost her defender, Sonntag beat the Post netminder glove side.
  • The squad carried their momentum from the second early in the third (16:08) when Taylar netted the eventual game-winner after Sonntag dished the puck to Taylar who put home a wrist shot just past the right face-off circle.
  • Later in the final period at 11:40, Carey potted an insurance goal for the Purple and White. Sacca initially put the puck on net, however, it just snuck by Saunders' pad after her save which allowed for Carey to poke home the loose puck and made it 3-1.
  • A little over five minutes later (06:45), Whaley put home the fourth and final goal for Stonehill after Petford found Whaley in front of the Eagles net and beat Saunders with a backhanded shot glove side.
  • With today's win, the Skyhawks swept their four-game season series against the Eagles and outscored Post, 19-7.
