Bramanti Earns NEC Player of the Week Honors

EASTON, Mass. (December 12, 2022) – Stonehill College fifth-year guard Emily Bramanti was named a Northeast Conference Player of the Week by the league office this afternoon, becoming the first in program history to earn the weekly recognition in the College's inaugural NCAA Division I season.

Bramanti, who was also named an NEC Prime Performer for the second-straight week, earns NEC Player of the Week recognition after averaging 25.5 points on 52.9-percent shooting (18-for-34), including 8-for-15 (53.3%) from three-point range, while converting 7-of-11 (63.6%) of her free-throws in a 1-1 week. She also contributed 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 39.3-minutes per game over the two contests.

Bramanti capped the week by erupting for a career-high 38 points, including 25 in the second half and 15 of Stonehill's 17 third quarter points, in Sunday's 81-74 win at Bryant University. She made 13-of-19 shots from the field, including 6-for-8 from three-point distance, while converting 6-of-9 free-throws, to go with four rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and steal in 39-minutes of play, posting the highest single-game point total in the NEC since November 13, 2019, when Wagner College's Emilija Krista Grava had 45 against Saint Peter's University and were just two points shy of the Conference's season-high regardless of gender as she led Stonehill to the second-highest point total as a team this season to date..

Bramanti came within a point of Stonehill's single-game scoring record, and the point total is the highest in the NEC this season by 12 points. It also marked her fourth-straight double-figure game and seventh this season overall (33rd career), scoring 20-plus points for the fifth time in her career. Bramanti opened the week with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal at Holy Cross on Thursday, a game in which Stonehill led for the first 31-minutes.

Bramanti is averaging 19.8 points per game in her past four outings to move up to sixth among NEC scoring leaders with her team-high 12.6 points per game on 40.2-percent shooting, including 37.3% (22-for-59) from three-point distance, with 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists (6th) in 34.1-minutes per game (2nd). Her 2.2 three-point field goals per game leads the Conference.

The two-year captain has started 39 of the 89 games she has played over her career at Stonehill, helping the Skyhawks to the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament championships as a sophomore in 2019-20. Bramanti has totaled 767 points, 277 rebounds, 250 assists and 86 steals over her career, shooting 39.2-percent from the field, including 30.6% from three-point distance, and 74.7% from the free-throw line. The All-NE10 second team selection last season was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all eight semesters, with Academic Distinction status twice for having a semester grade point average between 3.50 and 3.99, while also receiving the Division II ADA Academic Distinction Award.

Stonehill (3-7, 0-0 NEC) is back in action on Wednesday when it opens a three-game home stand that will wind through the holidays against UAlbany on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
