WBCA Announces 2022-23 Academic Top 25 Honor Rolls

EASTON, Mass. (August 4, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's basketball program received special mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as it announced its 2022-23 Academic Top 25 team honor rolls.

Stonehill, which completed its inaugural NCAA Division I season in 2022-23 under the direction of head coach Trisha Brown, registered a 3.494 team grade point average for the academic year. The Skyhawks are the top Northeast Conference program, among two NEC teams listed in the Top 25 and special mention honorees by the WBCA. The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2022-23 season is the 28th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls. Robert Morris University finished first among NCAA Division I members with a 3.807 cumulative team GPA.

Stonehill, which also collected an NEC Team Sportsmanship Award for its first season as a member of the Conference, placed ten of its 11 student-athletes on the NEC Academic Honor Roll, with one of those being named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or better. Recent graduates Emily Bramanti and Sophie Glidden were also named to the Academic All-District® team by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their efforts on the court and in the classroom.

Stonehill closed out its inaugural NCAA Division I season with a 9-20 record overall, including 5-11 in its first NEC season to finish seventh in the Conference's regular season standings after being picked ninth by the league's head coaches in the NEC preseason poll. The Skyhawks notched a win in their NEC debut at Central Connecticut State University (73-66) on January 2 and completed a regular season series sweep of the Blue Devils – its first as an NEC member. Stonehill also logged non-conference wins at University of New Hampshire and Bryant as well as University of Hartford and NEC wins against LIU, St. Francis Brooklyn and Wagner College, finishing the year winners of three of their last five. Bramanti also earned All-NEC first team accolades.
