SMITHFIELD, R.I. (May 14, 2022)- On the final day of the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, freshman, Madison Rousseau shattered the school record for the 100-meter hurdles while also earning All-New England honors. Jillian Howard also earned All-New England honors for her performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Highlights:

  • After qualifying for the 100-meter finals on Friday, Rousseau raced to a sixth-place finish at 14.38 seconds. Not only was this a personal best for Rousseau, but she broke a seven-year-old school record set by Jenna Esernio'16 (14.46 seconds). Each time Rousseau has run in the 100-meter hurdles, she has notched top-10 finishes in seven of the eight meets this year including a win at the Merrimack Track Carnival on April 9.
  • For just her third time ever competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Howard posted another top-10 finish as she crossed the finish line at 11:17.98 for seventh place. Each time Howard ran in this event, she always earned a new achievement. Her first time at the Merrimack Track Carnival, she captured first place. Meanwhile, in her second race, she not only set a personal best (10:57.45), her time was qualified for an NCAA Provisional.

Stonehill wraps up another outdoor season and will look to continue to build off the momentum made this year, heading into next season as the purple and white bring back many key returners including Rousseau.
