Seven First Place Wins Give Women's Track Second Place Finish At SNHU Spring Invite

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 2, 2022) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team posted a second-place team finish at the SNHU Spring Invitational, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, at Penmen Stadium Saturday. Overall, the Skyhawks posted seven first-place finishes, 18 top-three finishes, and 22 top-five finishes. 

Highlights:

  • Casey Gannon led the Skyhawks overall with two first-place finishes in both the 100-meter hurdles, but also the 400-meter hurdles. In the 100-meter hurdles, Gannon finished with a time of 15.17 and in the 400-meter hurdles, she posted a time of 1:05.29. 
  • Also in the 100-meter hurdles, Stonehill took the top-three spots leading with Gannon, but right behind her was Abigail Creamer in second and then Savanna Macaluso in third with times 15.41 and 16.25 respectively. 
  • In the 400-meter, the Skyhawks claimed two of the top three spots featuring a first-place finish by Kaytlin Encarnacao when she crossed the line at 58.35 seconds. Ashley Warren was not far off in a third-place with a time of 1:01.16. 
  • Stonehill continued their stretch of first-place finishes when Jillian Howard won the mile with a time of 5:13.65. Caitlin Swanson finished two spots behind Howard for yet another Skyhawks top-three finish after she set a new personal record at 5:36.52.
  • Meanwhile during field events, the purple and white saw three of their first-place finishes happen in the following events: pole-vault (Haley Lightbody-3.05 meters), triple jump (Creamer-10.66 meters), and hammer throw (Madison Gunderway-42.42 meters, a new career-high). 

Other Performances:

  • During the 5,000-meter race, the Skyhawks saw two top-five finishes with Victoria Lombardi claiming second (18.20.04), and then Rebecca Erhard shortly after in fourth (18:49.72). 
  • Continuing the string of top-five finishes, the 800-meter race saw Emma Lawrence cross the finish line at 2:22.65 for second place with Caroline Surrette in fifth place (2:26.42).
  • Soraya Masse continued her strong start to her outdoor track career setting two new personal bests in the 100-meter (13.62 seconds-third place) and 200-meter (28.56 seconds-third place). 
  • In the long jump, the purple and white took two of the top three spots with Lightbody coming in second with a leap of 4.70 meters, and then Eileen Durgin was right behind her in third place at 4.66 meters. 
  • For javelin, Stonehill claimed two of the top-five spots with Kaley Enright throwing for a new career-high of 35.41 meters, and in fourth place was Isabelle Angelini who also set a new personal-high with a throw of 34.19 meters.
