Sullivan and Rudden Highlight Seven All-NE10 Selections for Women's Lacrosse

NE10 Announces 2022 Women's Lacrosse Postseason Honors

EASTON, Mass. (May 6, 2022) – Stonehill College senior Emma Sullivan and junior Lydia Rudden headline a list of seven from the Northeast-10 Conference regular season champions to earn All-NE10 honors as selected by the Conference's 14 head coaches, the league announced.

Rudden has earned NE10 Attack of the Year for the first time, while also being selected to the All-NE10 first team along with Sullivan who has been named the NE10 Midfielder of the Year after collecting Northeast Division Midfielder of the Year honors from the Conference as a junior. She is Stonehill's first overall Midfielder of the Year since Kelsey Reilly, '13 earned the honors in the first year of the award's existence in 2013 and one of three in the NE10's history of the award to collect the honors twice. Rudden is Stonehill's tenth NE10 Attack/Player of the Year selection, but its first since Michelle Kelly, '09 completed a run of eight-straight Player of the Year selections for the program dating back to when current head coach Katie (Lambert) Conover, '03 earned her first of an NE10 record three-straight awards. In total, Rudden is one of six from Stonehill to earn the ten NE10 Attack/Player of the Year honors.

The duo highlights a list of seven All-NE10 selections for Stonehill, with Rudden and Sullivan joined by junior defender Victoria Butler in being selected to the All-NE10 first team. Junior attack Kendall Fressle has earned a spot on the All-NE10 second team, while sophomore midfielder Lilly Leach and freshmen Mallory Crispens and Sarah Faley were all named to the third team.

Stonehill's three first team All-NE10 selections give the program 63 first team honorees all-time, but its first since Cara Corvino, '17 earned her second of two-straight selections in 2017. The seven All-NE10 honorees this spring are its most since nine earned the honors during Stonehill's undefeated 2005 squad that captured the program's second NCAA Division II National Championship, and give the program 120 All-Conference performers in program history overall, while its three first team selections are the most since three earned the accolades as well in 2010.

Crispens and Faley have also been selected to the NE10 All-Rookie Team, giving Stonehill 16 All-Rookie Team picks since that program started in 2009. It marks the first time the Skyhawks have had multiple selections since Sullivan and Fressle were selected as freshmen in 2019.

Sullivan, the 2021 NE10 Northeast Division Midfielder of the Year and a preseason All-America selection by USA Lacrosse Magazine, earns All-NE10 honors for the second-straight year with first team honors for the first time after being selected to the third team as a junior. The five-time NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, earning NE10 Player of the Week once as well this spring, is ranked third among NE10 scoring leaders with 76 points, ranking second in the Conference with her team-high 59 goals, to go with 17 assists (13th NE10). Sullivan leads the NE10 with 122 draw controls, 67 ground balls and 42 caused turnovers, ranking sixth nationally in Division II with her 3.94 ground balls per game, ninth with 2.5 caused turnovers per game and 12th with 7.2 draws per game. Her draw control total ranks second on the program's single-season list, while ranking third with 42 caused turnovers – three shy of Amy Bartlett's '01 record of 45 in 2001, and ranking fourth for career ground balls – eight shy of Taylor Shanahan's '18 record of 75 in 2018.

An Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-East Region selection in 2021, Sullivan was named Stonehill's "Breakout Sophomore" Award recipient for the spring season in 2020. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll multiple semesters over her career and has surpassed both 100 points and 100 goals in her 48 career games played. Sullivan has totaled 119 goals and 32 assists for 151 career points, converting 10-of-19 free-position shots and contributing 207 draw controls, 126 ground balls and 67 caused turnovers in her career. She ranks second all-time in program history for career draw controls, while ranking 15th all-time in career goals, 12th in ground balls and 11th in caused turnovers.

Rudden earns All-NE10 honors for the first time with her first team selection and Attack of the Year recognition. The four-time NE10 Player of the Week and two-time IWLCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week has posted just the third 100-point season in Stonehill history, leading the Conference in scoring by 22 points, while her 64 assists in 17 games played lead the NE10 by 18 and are two-shy of the program's single-season record of 66 by Jenny McGrath, '06 in 2006. Rudden ranks fifth on the Skyhawks with her 36 goals this spring, having also contributed 27 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. She is tied for second in Division II for assists and eighth in points with her 100 – ten shy of McGrath's single-season program record, having posted the 16th 100-point season in NE10 history.

Rudden, named Stonehill's Outstanding Junior Award recipient at its annual athletics awards night on Monday, matched a program record with her eight assists in Stonehill's season-opening win at Molloy College on February 27. She has totaled 53 goals and 93 assists for 146 points in her 30 career games played, ranking sixth on Stonehill's career assists list, while adding 39 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. She earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors as a sophomore and is a two-time recipient of the Saint Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team. Rudden has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester, receiving Academic Excellence status from the NE10 for having a 4.0 semester GPA.

Butler earns All-NE10 honors for the first time with her first team selection at defense. She was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season on Monday and spearheads a Stonehill defense that ranks fourth in the NE10 for scoring defense (10.82 goals per game) and caused turnovers per game (11.0), while leading the Conference and ranking fourth nationally with 18.12 draw controls per game and ranking second with 19.2 ground balls per game. Butler is third on the team with 63 draw controls (13th NE10), which ranks eighth on Stonehill's all-time single-season list, while ranking second on the team with 39 ground balls (7th) and 21 caused turnovers. She has contributed on the offensive end with 14 goals and three assists for 17 points in 17 games played.

Butler has started 27 of her 31 games played over three seasons at Stonehill, having totaled 59 ground balls, 71 draw controls and 34 caused turnovers, while adding 22 goals and three assists for 25 points. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester.

Fressle, an NE10 All-Rookie Team pick as a freshman, earns All-NE10 honors for the first time in her career with a second team selection at attack. She has joined Sullivan and Rudden in recording her 100th career point this spring and is third on the team with 47 goals scored (7th NE10), adding 11 assists for 58 points (13th) to rank fourth on the team. Fressle has scored a school-record 19 free-position goals this season, breaking the previous record of 17 by Samantha Lynott in 2010, having also chipped in with 14 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.

Fressle has started 23 of 45 games played in her Stonehill career and totaled 110 points with 92 goals, including 36 on free-position attempts to rank third all-time in program history, and 18 assists for 110 points. She has also collected 34 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers in her career, and has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll, receiving the Division II Athletic Director's Association (ADA) Academic Achievement Award.

Leach earns All-NE10 honors for the first time with her third team selection at midfield. She has started all 16 games played and has played a key role in Stonehill's possession control on draws, ranking second to Sullivan with her 74 draw controls that rank tenth in the NE10 and sixth on the program's all-time single-season list. Leach has contributed 22 goals and two assists for 24 points, adding 13 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers.

Leach has appeared in 20 games over her first two seasons at Stonehill and totaled 22 goals and two assists for 24 points, with 16 ground balls, 76 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll every semester at the College.

Faley, a three-time NE10 Rookie of the Week selection this spring, adds All-NE10 third team honors at goalkeeper to her first collegiate season, while also being named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team. She has played all but 90-minutes in the Stonehill goal this spring, posting a 10.42 goals against average (4th NE10) and .443 save percentage (6th) with 7.6 saves per game (5th) in 932:42 (3rd) over 17 games. Faley has posted ten-plus saves in five games, including a season-high 12 in the Skyhawks 14-13 win at No. 14 Bentley University on March 26. She was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll for the fall semester.

Crispens has had an immediate impact on the Stonehill defensive unit in her first collegiate season to earn a spot on the All-NE10 third team and All-Rookie Team. She has started all 17 games for the defensive unit which ranks fourth in the NE10 for scoring defense (10.82 goals per game) and caused turnovers per game (11.0), while leading the Conference and ranking fourth nationally with 18.12 draw controls per game and ranking second with 19.2 ground balls per game. Crispens is third on the team with 35 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers, adding six draw controls and an assist. She was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, with Academic Distinction status for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99 during the fall, as well as the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Stonehill (15-2, 12-1 NE10), which set a program record for NE10 wins in capturing its Conference-record 12th regular season championship and the top seed for this week's NE10 Tournament, is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division II East Regional rankings for the third-straight week and No. 8 in both the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse Magazine Division II polls. The Skyhawks have reached the NE10 semifinal round for a Conference-record 19th time in a Conference-record 21 all-time NE10 Tournament appearances. Stonehill will host fourth-seeded and No. 12/13-ranked Pace University for an NE10 semifinal at W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday at 11 a.m. Stonehill will host Sunday's NE10 Championship at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m.
