Three Straight NE10 Defensive Player of the Week Honors for Sullivan

EASTON, Mass. (April 11, 2022) – Stonehill College senior preseason All-American Emma Sullivan has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for women's lacrosse for the third-straight week by the league office today.

Sullivan, who has earned the weekly recognition for the fourth time this season overall, to go with an NE10 Player of the Week award as well, was responsible for 15 possessions and keyed the defensive effort in Tuesday night's 21-10 win over No. 19/25 The College of Saint Rose in Stonehill's lone game of the week. The defense allowed 20 shots, including 14 on goal, and forced 17 turnovers in the win as Sullivan collected a career-high 12 draw controls (out of Stonehill's 16 on the night), with two caused turnovers and a ground ball, while contributing four goals and two assists for six points on the offensive side of the field.

Sullivan, who has collected NE10 Defensive Player of the Week accolades four times (March 1, 28, April 4 and today) to go with NE10 Player of the Week honors on March 14, was named a preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. She has started all ten games for Stonehill this spring and is second on the team and among NE10 scoring leaders with 49 points, having scored a team-high 37 goals (2nd NE10), while her 12 assists are third on the team (11th NE10), ranking 20th nationally in Division II with her 3.70 goals per game and 29th with 4.90 points per game. Sullivan also leads the NE10 with 81 draw controls, 40 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers, while her .638 shot percentage (37 goals on 58 shots) ranks second in the NE10. She ranks fourth among NCAA Division II leaders for ground balls per game (4.00), seventh in caused turnovers per game (2.50) and eighth in draw controls per game (8.10). Sullivan's 81 draw controls are tied for fourth on Stonehill's all-time single-season list.

Sullivan, the 2021 NE10 Northeast Division Midfielder of the Year, has started 39 of her 41 career games played and totaled 97 goals and 27 assists for 124 points, recording her 100th career point in Stonehill's 19-2 win at American International College on March 23. She has also contributed 99 ground balls, 166 draw controls (5th all-time at Stonehill) and 50 caused turnovers in her career, converting 9-of-18 free-position shot attempts. Sullivan earned All-East Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and All-NE10 third team accolades as a junior and received Stonehill's "Breakout Sophomore" Award in 2020. Sullivan has also earned NE10 Academic Honor Roll status for her efforts in the classroom.

Stonehill (8-2, 6-1 NE10), up one spot to No. 15 in this week's IWLCA Division II poll and three spots to No. 13 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division II poll, hits the road for a pair of contests this week, starting Wednesday night at No. 12/14 Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, at 6 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week at Saint Michael's College on Saturday at 1 p.m., before returning to W.B. Mason Stadium next Wednesday, April 20, to host Southern Connecticut State University at 7 p.m.
