How it Happened

  • Franklin Pierce scored the first two goals of the contest in the opening six minutes, but Stonehill responded with the next six, including a pair from senior Kendall Fressle, to take a four-goal lead into the second quarter.
  • Junior Lydia Rudden had a hand in the Skyhawks first three goals to claim the lead for good, netting her first of two in the contest 22-seconds after senior Megyn Ayotte gave Franklin Pierce a two-goal lead, and then assisting on markers from junior Kayla Conway and sophomore Molly Mae Hughes over the next three minutes.
  • Stonehill extended its lead to five (8-3) after Hughes' second goal of the game 3:06 into the second quarter, but Franklin Pierce followed with three-straight over a three minute span to lose back within two (8-6) after Ayotte's second of the game with seven minutes left before the half.
  • Stonehill scored three of the next five goals to round out the first half and maintained its three-goal cushion (11-8) at the intermission.
  • Ayotte opened the second half scoring with her fourth goal of the day 2:17 into the third quarter, but Stonehill reeled off a seven-goal run, including three by senior preseason All-American Emma Sullivan and a pair by Fressle, to open a nine-goal lead (18-9) with 90-seconds to play in the third.
  • Franklin Pierce stopped the run with its tenth goal of the day with nine seconds left in the quarter, but Fressle struck twice in the opening three minutes of the fourth to spark a game-clinching four goal run to open a 12-goal lead (22-10) after freshman Caroline Davey's second goal of the season with 1:48 to play.
