Lindgren's seven points lead Falcons to fifth straight win
WALTHAM, Mass. (April 13, 2016) – Bentley University, ranked 18th in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, scored the first seven goals of the game and never looked back in posting a 15-7 triumph over 20th-ranked Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action tonight.
Junior Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Massachusetts/Algonquin Regional) led Bentley with seven points on five goals and two assists with three ground balls, a draw control and caused turnover. Senior Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) added two goals and two assists for four points with five draws and four ground balls. Senior Meredith Hart (Fairport, New York/Fairport) and juniors Ciara Morley (Irvington, New York/Irvington) and Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Massachusetts/Agawam) all netted a pair of goals, with Hart also totaling seven draw controls and two ground balls.
Junior Lauren Ochs (Rochester, New York/Irondequoit) posted seven saves in the Bentley goal with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. The Falcons posted a 26-19 edge in shots, converting 6-of-9 free-position attempts, controlling possession with a 17-7 advantage in draw controls. Bentley was also successful on 10-of-11 clear attempts, compared to 13-for-16 for Stonehill.
Senior Caitlin Sweeney (Hollis, New Hampshire/Hollis-Brookline) paced Stonehill with four goals, while junior Elizabeth Vetter (Great River, New York/East Islip) tallied a goal and assist with three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Senior Rebecca Matheson (Reading, Massachusetts/Reading Memorial) and sophomore All-American Kelly Healey (Westwood, Massachusetts/Westwood) each chipped in with a goal apiece.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Hess (Guilderland, New York/Guilderland) started in goal for Stonehill and posted four saves and two ground balls over the opening 22:09, yielding eight goals, before classmate Bailey Herr (Oakhurst, New Jersey/Ocean Township) registered three stops over the final 37:51.
Bentley took charge by scoring the first seven goals on its way to a 10-3 halftime lead and never looked back. Lindgren paced the opening run with two goals and an assist, capping the seven goal run with a free-position goal 8:41 into the game. Howard and Morley also netted two goals during that stretch for the Falcons.
Healey snapped the streak and got Stonehill on the scoreboard with her sixth goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Kelsey Shannahan (Mendham, New Jersey/Morris Catholic), with 19:17 remaining. The teams traded goals the remainder of the half, combining for four straight free-position markers, including Hart's 23rd goal of the night to cap the scoring with 52-seconds left in the frame.
Lindgren opened the second half scoring 6:36 in with her third goal of the night to push the Bentley lead to eight goals (11-3). Sweeney scored two straight within a minute and 20 seconds to pull Stonehill back within six (11-5) with 17:53 still to play. However, the Skyhawks wouldn't score consecutive goals again and Lunden and Lindgren answered with back to back goals a minute apart to restore the eight goal cushion (13-5) with 15:35 left.
Stonehill (5-6, 4-5 NE-10) is back in action on Saturday when it visits 12th-ranked Dowling College at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Tuesday, April 19, when they host Southern New Hampshire University at 7 p.m. Bentley (7-5, 5-3 NE-10) hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at noon.
