Vetter collects All-Region selection for second time with spot on third team
IWLCA Names 2016 All-Region Teams
EASTON, Mass. (May 16, 2016) – Two members of the Stonehill College women's lacrosse program have earned All-North Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA), the organization has announced.
Junior defender Cara Corvino (Dorset, Vermont/Burr and Burton Academy) and junior midfielder Elizabeth Vetter (Great River, New York/East Islip) both earned All-North Region honors for the second straight year, with Corvino being named to the first team and Vetter collecting third team honors.
Corvino, a third team All-North Region selection as a sophomore, earns first team honors after also being named to the All-Northeast-10 first team this season as well. The two-time All-NE-10 pick overall, is the leader of a Stonehill defense which ranks fifth in the NE-10 with a 9.50 team goals against average and third with 18.6 ground balls per game. Corvino started all 18 games for the Skyhawks this season and leads the team and ranks eighth among NE-10 leaders with 25 caused turnovers to go with a team-high 43 ground balls (5th NE-10) and 31 draw controls. She forced a career-high five turnovers in an 8-7 win at Saint Michael's College on April 22, while collecting six ground balls and a season-high matching three draws against Southern New Hampshire University on April 19.

Corvino has started 39 of the 56 games she has played over her career at Stonehill – starting all 38 games the last two seasons. She has totaled 94 ground balls, 42 draw controls and 50 caused turnovers over her career. Corvino, who received the Matthew McDonough '99 Spirit Award at Monday night's Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony for her spirit, dedication and pride along with his honorable character and service toward the Stonehill community, has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll three semesters and is a member of the Stonehill Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Vetter, a second team All-North Region selection as a sophomore, earns All-Region honors for the second straight year as well after also being named to the All-Northeast-10 third team this spring. She started all 18 games in midfield for Stonehill this season and is third on the team with 37 points and 29 goals to go with eight assists. Vetter leads the team with 54 draw controls (13th NE-10), which rank ninth on the program's single-season list, to go with 39 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. She potted a season-high five goals to lead the Skyhawks to a 13-10 win over Assumption, adding season-highs of seven draws, five ground balls and two caused turnovers against No. 2-ranked Le Moyne College on April 2.
Vetter, a two-time All-NE-10 selection and All-Rookie Team pick as a freshman, has started 39 of her 55 career games played in three seasons at Stonehill. She has totaled 95 points with 83 goals and 12 assists, converting 10-of-36 career free-position shot attempts, with 155 draw controls, 82 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. Vetter has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester at the College and was recently inducted into Kappa Mu Epsilon National Honor Society.
Stonehill wrapped up its 2016 season with a 9-9 record overall, including a 7-6 mark in the Northeast-10, making its 18th-straight appearance in the NE-10 Tournament. The Skyhawks are ranked 20th in the final regular season IWLCA Division II poll.
