Men’s Cross Country Runs at Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational, Places Fifth

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (September 9, 2023) - The Stonehill College men's cross-country team ran in the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational at Bryant University on Saturday, placing fifth overall while Northeastern came in first, UMass Amherst placed second, and Merrimack came in third.

Highlights

  • Fifth-year runner Reilly Johnston (East Providence, R.I.) paced the Skyhawks in the 5k, finishing the race in 15:35.3 to place 15th out of 133 runners while marking a new personal best.
  • Junior Jace Hollenbach (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat) finished in 26th place, clocking in at 15:52.4 in the men's 5K, setting a new personal best in the event.
  • Senior Patrick Garrett (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) ran the race in 16:02.3, placing 34th.

Other Performances

  • Fifth-year Colin Black (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) finished 44th in the race, crossing the finish line in 16:15.0.
  • Senior Connor Hughes (Melrose, Mass./St. Johns Prep) also had a top-50 finish, running the 5k in 16.20.0.
  • Senior Aidan Byrne (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) finished the race in 16:48.5, coming in 65th place.
