NE10 Men's Tennis Weekly Report

EASTON, Mass. (March 15, 2022) – Stonehill College freshman Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé has swept the Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis weekly honors by being named Player and Rookie of the Week by the league office today.

de Bénazé posted a combined 4-1 record in singles and doubles play over a 2-1 week for Stonehill during its annual spring break trip. He posted a 2-1 mark at No. 1 singles, while combining with junior Luke Nickerson to win both completed doubles matches. de Bénazé was a double-winner for Stonehill in identical 7-0 wins over Immaculata (Pa.) University and St. John's (Minn.) University.

de Bénazé dropped just one game over three sets of play against Immaculata on Thursday, as he and Nickerson cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles and then de Bénazé added a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against sophomore Jason Watts. de Bénazé and Nickerson followed that up with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles against St. John's on Friday, before he added another straight sets win against junior Wil McDowell at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

de Bénazé has posted an 11-9 combined record in singles and doubles play in his first collegiate season to date. He has posted a 9-2 doubles mark with two different playing partners, including a 2-1 clip at No. 2 with Nickerson. He and former doubles partner, sophomore Louis Coppi posted a 7-1 record together, winning the B-Doubles bracket of the season-opening Stonehill Doubles Invitational in September.

Stonehill (6-2, 0-0 NE10), which saw this weekend's scheduled NE10 opener at home against Assumption University postponed, will now open its NE10 schedule next Tuesday, March 22, against Adelphi University at 3:30 p.m.
