The Details

  • After a hard fought opening period and despite Lindenwood outshooting Stonehill, 16-9, it was the Skyhawks who struck first. With 1:44 left, Ireland set up Schwenninger with a nice look which allowed the freshman to put home his shot home for the 1-0 lead after one.
  • However, at 12:12 of the second, the Lions evened things at one when Allard took the puck into the Stonehill zone and found Sterzer on the back door for the easy tap in. A little later in the frame at 03:33, Price found Johannes in front of FitzPatrick and he made it 2-1.
  • Lindenwood pushed their lead to two when Jeffers sent his shot past FitzPatrick with 2:24 left in the second.
  • As the third got underway, the hosts tacked on their fourth goal of the evening courtesy of Gagnon. However, the squad cut the defict to two (4-2) when Rapalje netted his 20th goal of the season. Rapalje is the program's first 20-goal scorer since Matt Curran did so in the 2006-07 season when he netted 30 goals. Despite cutting it to two, the hosts added one more nearly midway through the period for the 5-2 win.
