NEC Announces 2023 Postseason Honors

EASTON, Mass. (November 1, 2023) – Two members of the Stonehill College field hockey program have collected All-Northeast Conference honors as selected by the league's eight head coaches the Conference announced this afternoon.

Senior forward Raegan Hickey and freshman midfielder Tyra Stark were both voted to the All-NEC second team for the first time in their careers. The duo gives Stonehill three All-NEC second team selections over the first two years of the program's transition to NCAA Division I status after junior Shannon Conte was a second team pick last year. The field hockey program has now had 75 All-Conference selections over its 27-year history.

Hickey, a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II All-American as a sophomore in 2021, earns All-Conference honors for the second time in her career after she was a first team All-Northeast-10 Conference and All-Rookie team pick that season. She earns All-NEC honors for the first time after finishing third among Conference leaders with 19 points and eight goals, also dishing out three assists this fall. Hickey posted multiple goals in two games, recording two goals and an assist in the Skyhawks 5-0 win at Queens University of Charlotte on September 22, earning NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts. She was also a two-time NEC Prime Performer selection over the course of the year.

Hickey started 50 of her 51 career games over her three years at Stonehill, totaling 22 goals and 14 assists for 58 points, scoring a pair of game winning goals. She finished third among Northeast-10 leaders in 2021 with her career-best 11 assists, finishing eighth among NE10 scoring leaders with 29 points, scoring nine goals. Hickey totaled 13 goals and four assists for 30 points over her two seasons at the NCAA Division I level, earning NEC Academic Honor Roll and NE10 Honor Roll status or her efforts in the classroom as well.

Stark, a two-time NEC Prime Performer this fall, made an immediate impact for Stonehill in her first collegiate season to earn All-NEC second team accolades. She started all 18 games for the Skyhawks this fall with four goals and two assists for ten points. All four of her goals this season were gamewinners, also adding a pair of assists in the 5-0 win at Queens on September 22. Her four game winning goals are second among NEC leaders, while ranking 13th in goals and 17th in scoring. Stark is the first freshman to earn All-NEC honors over Stonehill's two NCAA Division I seasons and the first true freshman to earn All-Conference honors for the program since former NFHCA National Player of the Year and three-time NE10 Player of the Year Kacie Smith, '20 was a second team selection in 2015.

Stonehill finished the 2023 season with a 5-13 record overall, including 2-5 in the NEC to finish sixth in the final regular season standings. The Skyhawks were 2-3 at W.B. Mason Stadium this fall in the mix for a spot in this weekend's NEC Tournament until the final week of the regular season, posting a 4-4 mark in the final month of the season.
