Women’s T&F Earn New School Record & First Place Finishes at Merrimack Alumni Classic

ANDOVER, Mass. (April 15, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's outdoor track and field team returned to Andover, Mass, and competed in the Merrimack College Alumni Classic at Duane Stadium. The team competed well against the various schools in attendance, including Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, Bentley, and the host Merrimack College. The Skyhawks finished with a total of 139.5 points, placing fourth in the meet.

Highlights

Competing in the 400-meter event was junior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass. / Reading Memorial), who made her mark and placed first overall with a time of 57.66. She also ran in the 200-meter race, placing second in the event with a time of 25.84.
In the 800-meter race, sophomore Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass. / Milford) ran hard and scored big for the Skyhawks, grabbing a first-place finish with a time of 2:16.67.
Sophomore Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass. / Canton) ran in the 400-meter hurdles, snagging the first-place spot with a time of 1:06.22. She also competed in the 100-meter hurdles event, finishing in tenth place with a time of 15.96.
In the hammer throw event, sophomore Madison Gunderway (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston East) placed first overall with a max distance of 48.25m, a new Skyhawk athletics record. She also competed in the javelin throw event, hitting a max distance of 24.81m, placing tenth.

Field Event Results

Freshman Darla Jagrosse (Wallingford, Conn. / Sheehan) competed in the discus throw event, throwing a max distance of 35.23m, placing third. She also competed in the shot put event, placing third as well with a max distance of 11.66m.
In the women's long jump event, freshman Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J. / Delran) competed and grabbed a fourth-place finish with a max distance of 5.52m. She also competed in the triple jump event, placing third with a max distance of 11.32m.
Senior Thrower Kaley Enright (Groveland, Mass. / Pentucket Regional) competed in the javelin throw event where she placed fourth overall with a max distance of 35.73m. She also competed in the shot put event, placing fourth with a max distance of 11.35m.
Freshman Sydney Cahill (Reading, Mass. / Reading Memorial) competed in the javelin throw event, throwing a max distance of 29.19m, placing seventh.
In the pole vaulting event, Senior Haley Lightbody (Reading, Mass. / Reading) was able to grab eighth place with a max height of 3.25m.

Distance Event Results

In the 1500-meter race, freshman Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn. / Bacon Academy) scored big for the Skyhawks, placing second overall with a time of 4:44.33.
Freshman Emily Young (Newton, Mass. / Beverly) made strides in the 1500-meter event, placing third overall with a finishing time of 4:53.88.
In the 3000-meter event, Victoria Lombardi (Peabody, Mass / Peabody Veterans Memorial) placed fifth overall with a time of 11:05.18. She also ran in the 1500-meter event and finished with a time of 5:04.37, placing eighth overall.
Senior Elizabeth Marshall (Plymouth, Mass / Plymouth North) made strides in the 800-meter event, snagging a fourth-place finish with a time of 2:21.74.
Competing in the 800-meter event, freshman Ava Cote (Wenham, Mass. / Hamilton Wenham Regional) ran a time of 2:22.24, placing sixth overall.
Right behind her, senior Jenna French (Waterbury, Conn / Sacred Heart) ran in the 800-meter run, placing seventh overall with a time of 2:24.51.

Sprint/Hurdle Results

In the 4x400 meter relay, the Skyhawks Squad A had Marshall, junior Caroline Surrette (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn Memorial), Lawrence, and Cote compete, where they placed second overall with a finishing time of 4:07.50.
Freshman Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va. / McLean) competed in the 400-meter hurdles event, finishing in third place with a time of 1:09.70.
Freshman Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt. / Green Mountain Union) also competed in the 400-meter hurdles event, placing fifth overall with a time of 1:10.39.
Freshman sprinter Allison Moloney (Brimfield, Mass. / Pope Francis Prep) competed in the 100-meter sprint, placing fourth overall with a time of 12.99. She also competed in the 200-meter race, finishing with a time of 26.89, placing eighth overall.
Junior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass. / North Attleboro) competed in the 100-meter hurdles, placing ninth overall with a time of 15.84.
Sophomore Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass. / Canton) competed in the 100-meter hurdles event, finishing in tenth place with a time of 15.96.
