Women's Outdoor Track and Field Finish Third in Holy Thursday Meet

ANDOVER, Mass. (April 6, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's outdoor track and field team traveled not too far north of Easton and competed in the Merrimack College Holy Thursday Meet at Duane Stadium in Andover, Massachusetts. The team made competed well against the various schools in attendance, including UMass Lowell, Assumption College, Bentley University, and the host Merrimack College. The Skyhawks finished with a total of 126 points, placing third in the meet.

Highlights

  • Having yet another impressive showcase at today's meet, sophomore Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass. / Canton) competed in the 100-meter hurdles event, finishing with a first-place win with a time of 14.87. She also ran in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.85, placing second overall. 
  • Senior Elizabeth Marshall (Plymouth, Mass / Plymouth North) made huge strides in the 800-meter event, snagging a first-place win with a time of 2:20.17. 
  • Freshman Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt. / Green Mountain Union) took to the blocks to compete in the 400-meter hurdles, placing second overall with a time of 1:07.83.
  • Senior Thrower Kaley Enright (Groveland, Mass. / Pentucket Regional) competed in the shot put event, hitting a max distance of 11.42m and grabbing second place. She also competed in the javelin throw event where she placed third overall with a max distance of 36.59m.
  • In the hammer throw event, sophomore Madison Gunderway (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston East) placed second overall with a max distance of 45.67m.
  • In the 4x400 meter relay event, the Skyhawks team consisted of freshman Leah Baxter (Petersham, Mass. / Quabbin Regional High School), Masse, Encarnacao, and Tyrrell, where they were able to grab second with a time of 4:07.57.
  • In the women's triple jump event, freshman Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J. / Delran) competed and grabbed a second-place finish with a max distance of 11.43m. For women's long jump, she finished with a max distance of 5.44m and a third-place finish.
  • Also competing in the 800-meter event was junior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass. / Reading Memorial), who placed third overall with a finishing time of 2:22.06.
  • In the one-mile distance event, freshman Emily Young (Newton, Mass. / Beverly) finished in third place overall, with a time of 5:17.23.
  • Freshman Darla Jagrosse (Wallingford, Conn. / Sheehan) competed in the discus throw event, throwing a max distance of 35.23m with a third-place finish. She also threw in the women's shot put event, placing fourth overall with a max distance of 10.91m.

  • In the pole vaulting event, Senior Haley Lightbody (Reading, Mass. / Reading) was able to grab fourth place with a max height of 3.05m.
  • Sophomore Soraya Masse (Milford, N.H. / Brockton) also competed in the 100-meter dash, where she ran a total time of 13.01, placing fourth overall.
  • Competing in the one-mile run, freshman Ava Cote (Wenham, Mass. / Hamilton Wenham Regional) ran a time of 5:17.36, finishing in fourth place.
  • Freshman Sydney Cahill (Reading, Mass. / Reading Memorial) competed in the javelin throw event, throwing a max distance of 27.57m.
  • Junior Cassidy Becker (North Attleboro, Mass. / North Attleboro) competed in the 100-meter hurdles, placing sixth overall with a time of 16.36.
  • Senior Jenna French (Waterbury, Conn / Sacred Heart) ran in the 800-meter run, placing ninth overall with a time of 2:31.35.
  • Freshman Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va. / McLean) took to the blocks for the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in tenth place with a time of 18.01. She also competed in the 400-meter hurdles event, finishing in seventh place with a time of 1:12.38.
