Women's Indoor Track and Field Compete in UMass Winter Opener Flagship Indoor Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. (January 15, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's indoor track and field team hit the road for the UMass Winter Opener Invitational at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass. The team made strides at the meet, competing against multiple Division 1 schools, including the University of Connecticut, Brown University, Harvard, and Quinnipiac.

Highlights

  • Junior Caroline Surrette (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn Memorial) placed tenth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:27.59.
  • Junior Abigail Larsson (Bayport, N.Y. / Bayport- Blue Point) competed in the pole vault event, hitting 3.35m, and placing 12th.

Other Results

  • Junior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass. / Reading Memorial) returned to the track to compete in the 400-meter dash, where she placed 16th in 1:00.44
  • Returning to the track following her impressive cross country season, sophomore Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass. / Milford)placed 17th in the one-mile run with a time of 5:21.09.
  • Freshman Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J. / Delran) competed in the triple jump event, hitting 10.49m, and placing 18th.
  • Freshman Allison Moloney (Brimfield, Mass. / Pope Francis Prep) ran in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 18th place with a time of 8.22.
  • Along with Lawrence, Senior Victoria Lombardi (Peabody, Mass / Peabody Veterans Memorial) jumps back on the track after her outstanding XC season, racing in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:36.34, placing 20th
