Rattaseri rallies for three set win at No. 5 singles to cap comeback for Falcons

EASTON, Mass. (March 30, 2023) – Bentley University battled back from a deficit after doubles play to claim a 4-3 decision over Stonehill College in a non-conference men's tennis match at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon. 

Highlights

  • Senior Jordan Soifer was a double-winner for the afternoon to lead Bentley with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles.
  • Senior Tawan Rattaseri was among four singles victors for the Falcons, rallying from a set down to notch the decisive point at No. 5 singles.
  • Junior Gabe Horwitz and freshman Nikolai Pran also posted singles wins for the Falcons.
  • Freshmen Mark Kröll and Nathaniel Graves were both double-winners to lead Stonehill. Kroll won at No. 2 singles and doubles, while Graves posted wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

How It Happened

  • Stonehill took two of three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match.
  • Kröll and senior Luke Nickerson posted a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while Graves and freshman Mathias Langaard won by the same score at No. 3.
  • Soifer combined with junior Max Bonte for Bentley's lone doubles win with a 6-3 decision at No. 1. Soifer followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Stonehill freshman Mateo Mallen.
  • Kröll and Graves both won three set battles in singles play.
  • Kröll defeated Bonte at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
  • Graves battled past Bentley junior Diego Ramos 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.
  • Rattaseri fought back from a set down against Nickerson at No. 5, including a tiebreaker second set to extend the match, posting a 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 triumph to clinch the match for the Falcons.

Stonehill (7-13, 0-4 NEC) returns to the courts on Saturday, when it hosts Saint Michael's College for its Senior Day match at The Wimbledon 109 Tennis Club in Walpole at 2:30 p.m. Please note the time and venue change for the match due to the forecast for inclement weather on Saturday. Bentley (5-4, 1-0 NE10) hosts Le Moyne College on Saturday at noon.
