Mashkevich and Bergeron earn first team honors after unbeaten NE-10 seasons
Fayed collects second team singles and doubles accolades, along with Mashkevich; Leone and Martin post third team honors, along with Martin/Bergeron, while Martin also selected to All-Rookie Team

EASTON, Mass. (May 5, 2010) – Five members of the Stonehill College men's tennis team have earned All-Northeast-10 Conference recognition for their performances this season. The Skyhawks saw four recognized for their singles performances this year, while two doubles pairings were also recognized.

Senior Michael Mashkevich (Goleta, Calif./Framingham (Mass.)) and sophomore Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) heads the honorees for Stonehill with first team honors at singles. Junior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) earned second team singles honors, while senior Mike Leone (Cataumet, Mass./Bourne) and freshman Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien) both collected third team singles honors.

Stonehill's top doubles pairing of Fayed and Mashkevich earned second team All-Conference honors, while the team of Bergeron and Martin received a spot on the third team for doubles. Martin also earned a spot on the NE-10's All-Rookie Team.

Mashkevich earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the third-straight year with his second-straight first team selection at No. 2 singles. He posted a perfect 11-0 record in NE-10 play this season as part of an overall mark of 17-2. Mashkevich has won 19-straight matches against NE-10 opposition and carries a 12-match winning streak into this weekend's NCAA Tournament.

Mashkevich has seen time at both first and second singles for Stonehill this season, recording a 4-0 mark at first singles to go with a 13-2 clip at second singles. He was also recognized by the College as an Edward E. Martin Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and also earned NE-10 All-Championship team honors for the second-straight season. Mashkevich is a two-time NE-10 All-Academic team pick and has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Directors honor roll accolades multiple semesters.

Mashkevich owns a 53-21 career singles record and combined to post a 59-22 doubles mark over his career. He earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors once this season.

Mashkevich and Fayed, the seventh-ranked doubles team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region, earned All-NE-10 doubles honors for the third-straight year. The duo, who earned first team No. 1 doubles honors in 2008 and 2009, collect second team honors this year with a 9-1 record in NE-10 play as part of a 13-4 overall doubles record. They have been on a roll of late, carrying a seven-match winning streak into this weekend's NCAA Tournament.

Fayed and Mashkevich have teamed up to post a 43-13 record at No. 1 double for Stonehill over the last three seasons, including a 22-3 mark in NE-10 play.

Fayed, the 2009 NE-10 Player of the Year, earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the third-straight year after posting an 8-1 record for Stonehill in NE-10 play. He posted an overall record of 11-3 at No. 1 singles for the Skyhawks after spending the fall semester in the College's Study Abroad program. Fayed has won his last four matches heading into the NCAA Tournament. He is a two-time NE-10 Player of the Week this season, winning the award eight times in his career.

Fayed, a first team All-Conference singles player in 2009 and third team for singles as a freshman, is ranked 13th in the ITA East Regional rankings. He has posted a career singles record of 47-9, including a 25-3 clip in NE-10 matches, to go with a 49-15 doubles mark, 24-3 in NE-10 action. In 2009, Fayed was 21-1 overall, including a 10-0 clip in NE-10 play as he didn't drop a set in Conference action.

Bergeron earns All-Conference honors for the first time in his career with his first team selection at No. 6 singles. He is 15-4 this season overall, including an 11-0 clip in NE-10 play. Bergeron has seen time at fourth, fifth and sixth singles this year, posting a 10-3 mark at No. 6, 4-1 and No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 4.

Bergeron has posted a career record of 21-4 in his two-years at Stonehill, including a 15-0 mark in NE-10 matches, while recording a 17-7 career doubles clip, featuring a 10-3 record in NE-10 play.

Leone earns All-NE-10 singles honors for the second time in his career with his third team honor at No. 3 singles. He has posted a 9-2 record in Conference play this season as part of a 12-7 overall record. Leone saw action at second and third singles, posting a 3-1 mark at No. 2 and going 9-6 at No. 3.

Leone, a first team All-NE-10 selection as a sophomore at fifth singles, has posted a career singles record of 45-23, including a 25-9 mark in NE-10 play. He earned first team All-Conference doubles honors as a junior, along with partner Charlie Sherman, and has posted a career doubles record of 58-21, including a 31-8 clip in NE-10 matches.

Martin earns third team All-NE-10 honors in his first collegiate season with his spot on the third team at fifth singles. He is also Stonehill's lone representative on the NE-10 All-Rookie squad. Martin is 13-6 overall in his first collegiate campaign, including an 8-3 mark in NE-10 play. He has seen action at third, fifth and sixth singles, compiling a 3-0 clip at No. 3, 7-6 at No. 5 and going 3-0 at No. 6. Martin earned NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors twice this season.

Martin and Bergeron round out Stonehill's All-Conference honorees with a spot on the third team for No. 3 doubles. The team has combined to record a 12-4 mark for Stonehill this season, including a 7-2 clip in NE-10 play.

Stonehill (13-7, 9-2 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow when it faces third-seeded Bentley University in opening round action of the NCAA Division II Tournament, hosted by Queens (N.Y.) College, at 11 a.m. The sixth-seeded Skyhawks are making their fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth overall in program history.
