EASTON, Mass. Stonehill (12-6, 9-2 NE-10), ranked sixth in the most recent NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, enter the postseason winners of five-straight, all by 9-0 sweeps, and nine of 11 overall. The Skyhawks captured both the NE-10 regular season and tournament championships in 2008-09. Stonehill topped second-seeded Merrimack College, 5-3, in last year’s final to claim its first tournament crown in program history.

Stonehill is led by junior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), the reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Year, and senior Michael Mashkevich (Goleta, Calif./Framingham (Mass.)), also an All-Northeast-10 performer. Fayed, ranked 13th in the ITA East Regional rankings, has posted an 11-3 record in singles play this semester, including an 8-1 clip in NE-10 play, since returning from the College’s study abroad program during the fall semester. The two combine to form the seventh-ranked doubles team in the ITA East Regional rankings, posting an 11-4 mark overall, 9-1 in NE-10 play.

Sophomore Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) has provided depth in the Stonehill lineup, going a perfect 11-0 for singles in NE-10 matches as part of a 15-3 record overall while seeing time at fourth, fifth and sixth singles this season. Pace (5-7, 5-6 NE-10) enters the postseason having dropped four of its last six after an 8-1 win over American International College in its regular season finale on Sunday. The Setters are making their tenth NE-10 Tournament appearance.

The winner of tomorrow’s match will advance to Thursday’s semifinal round to face the winner of tomorrow’s quarterfinal between seventh-seeded Saint Anselm College (5-6, 5-6 NE-10) and second-seeded Merrimack College (11-4, 10-1 NE-10) at 2 p.m.
