Football Rebounds at Pace Behind Defensive Effort, 19-8

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (October 30, 2021) - Stonehill College rode a strong defensive effort to bounce back on the road with a 19-8 victory over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference football action at Pace Stadium this afternoon.

The Details

  • Sophomore defensive end Michael Lockavitch led the strong Stonehill defensive effort that limited Pace to just 170 total yards (100 passing, 70 rushing) with a career-high five tackles (all solo), including a career-best 3.0 for a loss of 23 yards, with 2.0 sacks for a loss of 14.
  • Senior defensive end Justin Levsky added five stops (all solo), including a sack and forced fumble, while classmate Masyn Lorick chipped in six tackles (five solo), with 1.0 for a loss of one.
  • Senior All-American Justin Felder paced the Stonehill offense with 154 all-purpose yards, rushing the ball 20 times for 96 yards and a touchdown, while adding two receptions for 57 yards.
  • Fifth-year quarterback Anton Stoneking completed 15-of-26 passes for 166 yards, rushing for Stonehill's other touchdown.

    Stonehill grabbed the lead when Levsky sacked Pace sophomore quarterback Sean Kehley, forcing a fumble, that was recovered by the Setters in the end zone for a safety on the first play of Pace's second possession of the game.
  • Stonehill followed by taking the ensuing possession 58 yards in nine plays for Felder's 12th touchdown of the season on a one yard run with 2:27 left in the opening quarter. Stoneking completed all four pass attempts for 33 yards on the drive, while Felder added ten yards on three carries.
  • Felder's 12th rushing touchdown of the season marks the program-record 30th of his career, giving him 33 total touchdowns in his career - one shy of Eddie Vachon, '10's career record of 34.
  • Stonehill extended its lead to 16-0 when Stoneking capped the opening drive of the second half with a one-yard keeper. He compiled 61 of the Skyhawks 80 total yards on the possession, completing all four pass attempts for 56 yards, while rushing the ball three times for another five yards, including the touchdown.
  • Pace got on the scoreboard and made a threat to get back into the game with 46-seconds remaining in the third quarter, when sophomore Louie Barrios completed a 23-yard touchdown pass to postgrad Brian Dolan and then converted the two-point conversion with a rush attempt.
  • Stonehill's defense did the job from there, though, and junior Perry Shelbred restored the Skyhawks two-possession lead with a 29-yard field goal with 11:58 to play in the fourth.

Stonehill (6-2, 4-2 NE10) is back in action next Saturday for its final home game of the season, hosting Franklin Pierce University for Senior Day at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m. Pace (1-6, 1-4 NE10) hosts Southern Connecticut State University next Saturday at noon.
