BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (October 28, 2023) - The Stonehill women's cross country team won the first Northeast Conference championship in Stonehill's second year as a Division I program as junior Emma Lawrence placed 4th out of 81 runners in the women's 5K race.

In just their second year in the NEC, the Skyhawks won the conference championship with 61 points as they saw three runners finish in the top 10.  Central Connecticut State found themselves as the runners-up with 67 points followed by Saint Francis with 71 points.

"Our women are young but totally committed to the success of the team.  They bought in from day one," said head coach Karen Boen. "The leadership they were provided by our captains was key.  We all understand that tradition is great but carrying the last 25 years on their shoulders can also be a lot to handle. They handled this race like our tradition, our team, and Stonehill really matter! I'm beyond proud."
