Four Skyhawks earned their first All-East Region award

EASTON, Massachusetts (May 25, 2021) – Ten members of the Stonehill College women's track and field team combined for 11 All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA).
The awards recognize each region's top five performers in individual events and top three teams in relay events. Stonehill's women totaled 11 and the men earned two. Among the Northeast-10 Conference, there were 181 total awards given out, as 89 were tabbed on the men's side and 92 were awarded to women's teams.
Senior Casey Gannon, who led the Skyhawks with two All-East Region honors, brings her career total to four after taking home one in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. Gannon clocked in a career best time of 14.73-seconds in the 100-meter hurdles at the NE10 Outdoor Championships placing second for her sixth All-Conference honor. She also finished second overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a season best time of 1:04.36 at the Championships, for her seventh-career All-Conference award.
Senior Sophia Anderle, earns her fourth All-East Region honor after taking home second in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the NE10 Championships with a season best time of 11:36.55. With second place, she earned her second All-Conference accolade.
Senior Kathleen Giusti earned her third All-East Region award in the high jump after clearing a season best height of 1.62m (5-feet, 3.75 inches) at the NE10 Championship taking sixth overall.
Senior Alexandra Sexton, garnered her fifth All-East Region award in the pole vault after taking the title at the Championship with a height of 3.50m (11-feet, 5.75 inches). Sexton earned the third-straight title for Stonehill in the pole vault.
Junior Claire Mason who took home Stonehill's sixth title in seven years in the 1500-meter run at the NE10 Championship clocked in a career best time of 4:45.71. This time earned her her second All-East Region honor and third All-Conference recognition.
Classmate Rebecca Erhard competed in the 10,000-meter run for the first time in her career clocking in a time of 39:20.17 at the NE10 Championships where she finished second overall, earning her first All-East Region accolade.
In her second try at the 5000-meter run, sophomore Victoria Lombardi clocked in a career best time of 18:10.16 at the NE10 Championships, earning her first All-Conference selection with a second-place finish and first All-East Region honor.
Sophomore Haley Lightbody who cleared a career best height of 3.05m (10-feet) in the pole vault at the Stonehill/Holy Cross Dual meet, earning her second All-East Region honor.
Freshmen Cassidy Becker and Abigail Larsson also earned their first All-East Region honors, as Becker earned it in the heptathlon and Larsson in the pole vault. Becker totaled 3684 points at the NE10 Championship where she earned her first All-Conference nod and Larsson placed fourth overall in the pole vault clearing a career best height of 3.05m (10-feet).
Stonehill wrapped up the season taking second place at the NE10 Outdoor Championships just two points behind Champion American International College and sending three to the New England Outdoor Championships.
