GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (October 20, 2021) - Fourth-seeded Adelphi University posted a 4-2 victory over fifth-seeded Stonehill College in first round action of the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis tournament at the Adelphi Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Adelphi (9-3, 7-3 NE10) advances to Friday's NE10 semifinal round, where it will meet top-seeded Le Moyne College at 1 p.m. Stonehill sees its fall season come to a close with a 6-5 record overall, including 6-4 in the NE10 to make its Conference-record 22^nd Tournament appearance. The Skyhawks streak of seven-straight trips to the NE10 Championship match will come to an end.
Junior Julia Kielan led three double-winners for Adelphi, playing a role in two clinching points for the Panthers.
Senior Emma Markaryan and junior Cristina Solorzano Valencia earned points for Stonehill with their singles wins.
Kielan and sophomore Carolina Chaves first clinched the doubles point for Adelphi with their 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Kielan the posted a 6-2, 7-5 decision at No. 5 singles against freshman Marissa Such to clinch the match win for the Panthers to advance to the semifinals.
Solorzano Valencia, ranked No. 4 in the ITA East Region rankings, won Stonehill's first point with her 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Adelphi junior Louisa Junghannes.
Markaryan battled back from a set down to earn Stonehill's second point, defeating freshman Caterina Federici 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
