WORCESTER, Mass. (September 26, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, held back a stern challenge from Assumption College for a 4-3 victory in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at the Assumption Tennis Courts this afternoon.

The Details

  • Senior captains Samantha Ormesher and Emma Markaryan led the double-winners for Stonehill. Junior Lily Peter joined the captains as a double-winner as well.
  • Ormesher and Markaryan helped Stonehill clinch the doubles point with their 6-0 sweep at No. 2. Ormesher later provided the match-clinching point, battling back from a set down against Assumption sophomore Caitlin Sze 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
  • Markaryan added a straight sets win at No. 2 singles against Assumption junior Cara McCormack that quelled a run of two-straight singles wins by the Greyhounds at the bottom of the lineup and pulled Stonehill within a point of the match win.
  • Peter and freshman Marissa Such cliched the doubles point for Stonehill with their 7-5 victory at No. 3. Peter followed that up with a 6-4, 6-4 decision at No. 4 singles against sophomore Yana Semerly that gave the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead.
