Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at NE10 Championship

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 15, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's golf program, filing a team score for the first time in its second appearance at the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Golf Championship, turned in a fifth place finish at the event, hosted by The College of Saint Rose, on the 5,965-yard, par-71 layout at Capital Hills at Albany Golf Course today.

Stonehill moved up one spot in the team standings today, following up its Sunday score of 352 with a second round 347 to finish with a two-day score of 699. The Skyhawks finished ahead of Assumption College (354-350=704) and Adelphi University (372-368=740) in the team standings. Merrimack College wrapped up its fourth NE10 Championship in five years with a two-day score of 627 (317-310), defeating defending champions Franklin Pierce University (320-317=637) by ten strokes. Southern New Hampshire took third (328-338=666) and Le Moyne College placed fourth (345-336=681). The Warriors were led by individual champion Krystal Knight, who captured her second straight NE10 title with a one-over-par two-day score of 143 (73-70), shooting one-under-par today to finish nine strokes in front of the field of 42 golfers.

Freshman Alexis Annarummo posted a score of 82 for the second-straight day to finish with a two-day score of 164, good for a tie for eighth overall, marking the highest individual finish by a Stonehill golfer at the NE10 Championship. Annarummo logged a birdie on the par-3 16th hole to draw even par on the inward nine at the time, before finishing four-over on the back. Annarummo carded nine pars on her round today, including five on the back, finishing the tournament seventh in the field with 17 pars over the two rounds. She was also sixth in the field with a 5.38 average on the course's four par-5s (+3), and fifth on the five par-3s with an average of 3.40 (+4).

Freshman Emma Beaulieu battled back from an opening round 88 with a round of 81 today to finish in tie for 15th overall with her two-day score of 169. Beaulieu was one-over-par through the first six holes today, including a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole. She finished ninth at the tournament in par-4 scoring with a 4.67 average, carding seven pars during her round today. Classmate Sloane Van Zanen also finished tied for 15th at 169 (82-87), finishing strong on her round today with a five-over-par 41 on the back nine, which included five of her seven pars logged in her round, including four-straight to start the back.

Sophomore Katelyn Jylkka finished her second NE10 Championship appearance with a two-day score of 197 (100-97), while junior Jennifer Kornacki registered a score of 202 (103-99), matching her season low today for the third time this season. Jylkka finished the tournament with a team-best two birdies, including one today on the par-3 13th hole.

Stonehill closes out its fall schedule next week, when it competes at the Music City Invitational, hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, Monday and Tuesday, October 22 and 23.
