Women’s Golf Sign Pair to NLIs

Kase, from Buffalo, N.Y., and Jaye of Hopkinton, Mass., set to join Skyhawks in Fall 2019

EASTON, Mass. (November 30, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's golf program has announced the commitment two student-athletes who have signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI) and will compete with the program starting in the Fall of 2019.

Emily Kase, a North Tonawanda, New York, native and product of Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, and Abby Jaye, from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and Hopkinton High School have both signed their NLI's to join the Stonehill women's golf program, which is in the midst of its second year, starting next fall, head coach Nick Crovetti has announced.

"Emily and Abby will complement the current roster and impact our team right away," said Crovetti. "Both are exceptional student-athletes with solid golf pedigrees and fit the Skyhawk mold. I'm looking forward to growing our roster as we continue to develop this new program."

Kase, a 4.9 handicap, is a four-year letterwinner on the girl's golf team at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, serving as captain as a junior and senior. She has been medalist at every team event over her junior and senior seasons, leading the Sharks to a combined record of 32-2 over her four years to date, reaching the New York All-Catholic State Championships and New York State Public High School Federation Championship all four years. Kase is a three-time All-Catholic Champion, winning the title as a freshman, junior and senior. She is the daughter of Peter and Veronica Kase of North Tonawanda.


Abby Jaye

Jaye is a four-year letterwinner for coach Dick Bliss on the varsity golf team at Hopkinton High School, serving as a tri-captain her senior year. Jaye, one of two girls on the Hillers golf team, has earned Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors each year since her freshman season, helping the team win a pair of Massachusetts Division 2 State Championships. The Tri-Valley League All-Star has also collected All-Scholastic honors from the Metro West Daily News, placed second at the Massachusetts Girls State Sectionals with a round of 77 as a sophomore and placed fourth at the New England High School Championships with a round of 76 that year as well. Jaye is a National Honor Society member and has competed on the Challenge Cup, the Hurricane Tour and in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events, representing the State at the WGAM Junior Inter-City Cup following her junior year. She is the daughter of Gary and Allyson Jaye of Hopkinton.

Stonehill recently completed the fall portion of its inaugural season, marking its second varsity season, but first fielding a full complement of five golfers to record team scores at its five events. The Skyhawks finished fifth at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in October, while posting a pair of fourth place team finishes at the Saint Rose Fall Invitational and Penmen Columbus Day Invitational. The Skyhawks spring schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
