Van Zanen places tied for 50th overall with three-day score of 245 to lead Skyhawks
WALLACE, N.C. (March 26, 2019) - The Stonehill College women's golf team finished 13th in the team standings following the third and final round of the Sunoco/Campbell Oil Classic, hosted by the University of North Carolina Pembroke, on the 5,812-yard, par 72 layout at River Landing Country Club this morning.
Freshman Sloane Van Zanen led the way for Stonehill with a third round score of 84 to finish tied for 49th overall with a three-round score of 245 (80-81-84) over the two days of the event. Classmate Alexis Annarummo followed in 52nd place after posting a round of 86 today for a final score of 249 (81-82-86). She carded one of the Skyhawks two birdies on the day with her four on the par-5 6th hole.
Stonehill finished the tournament in 13th place in the team standings with a three-round score of 1,028 after a third round 356 today. Host UNC Pembroke won the team title with a three-round score of 888 (289-293-306), 11 shots in front of Wingate University's 899 (301-292-306). The Skyhawks finished seven strokes behind 12th place Mars Hill College (337-323-361=1,021) and 22 behind fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Southern New Hampshire University (333-332-341-1,006). UNC Pembroke's Katy Flax earned individual medalist honors with her two-over-par score of 218 (70-71-77), edging teammate Alexandria Bare (72-72-76=220) and Merrimack College's Krystal Knight (71-72-77=220) by two strokes.
Sophomore Katelyn Jylkka and freshman Emma Beaulieu each recorded third round scores of 93 this morning, with Jylkka adding Stonehill's second birdie of the day with her three on the par-4 12th hole. Beaulieu finished with an overall score of 256 (82-81-93) for a 57th place finish overall, while Jylkka finished 70th at 278 (96-89-93).
Stonehill closes out its 2018-19 season on April 13 and 14, when it competes at the Assumption College Invitational at Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Massachusetts.
