Van Zanen leads Skyhawks with back-to-back 83s 

AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 18, 2019) -  The Stonehill College women's golf program wrapped up its first trip to the Southwestern portion of the United States by competing at the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Shootout, hosted by the 5,801-yard, par-72 layout at Coldwater Golf Club.

Freshman Sloane Van Zanen led the way for Stonehill by carding an 83 in the second round, matching her first round score, for a two-day score of 166 to finish 27th in the individual standings. Freshmen Emma Beaulieu and Alexis Annarummo both finished tied for 33rd in the field with two-day scores of 170. Beaulieu followed up her team-low opening round of 82 with an 88 in the second round, while Annarummo improved on her opening round 87 with an 83. Rounding out Stonehill's entries this weekend was sophomore Katelyn Jylkka with a two-day score of 195 (83-92).

Stonehill finished the two-day event with a 681 team score (335-346) for seventh place in the team standings. Lindenwood University rallied from second place after the first day to win the team title with a score of 621 (311-310). University of Nebraska-Kearney finished second (306-323=629) and Ottawa University of Arizona (318-313=631) was third in the team standings.

Van Zanen, Annarummo and Jylkka all finished the weekend with 18 pars, which tied for 15th in the field. Van Zanen added nine more pars in her second round, while Jylkka had seven pars in the second. Van Zanen also finished the weekend even par on the courses' four par-5s, which tied for fourth in the field, while Beaulieu posted a 5.38 stroke average on the par-5s. Jylkka played the four par-3s well with a 3.63 stroke average, tied for 20th in the field.

Stonehill returns to action next week, when it competes at the Sonoco Campbell Oil Classic, hosted by University of North Carolina-Pembroke, at River Landing Golf Club, in Wallace, North Carolina, Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26.
