NE10 Men's Tennis Postseason Awards Announcement

EASTON, Mass. (April 20, 2017) – Stonehill College freshman Manu Ravichandrakumar (Chennai, India/Saddlebrook Prep (Fla.)) has earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference's All-Rookie Team for men's tennis, as selected by the Conference's ten head coaches, the league announced today.

Ravichandrakumar posted a solid freshman season for Stonehill, competing primarily at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. He posted a combined 15-18 record overall in singles and doubles play, notching a 10-9 doubles mark with two different playing partners, including 5-4 in NE10 play. He and junior co-captain Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM) were 9-9 overall in doubles play, including 7-7 at No. 2 with a 4-4 NE10 mark.

Ravichandrakumar finished the season with a 5-9 singles record, including a 4-5 mark in the NE10, competing primarily at No. 3, but also splitting two matches at No. 2. He was a double-winner in four matches for Stonehill this season, posting a trio of three set wins in key team victories over rival Bentley University, ranked No. 7 in the region at the time, Franklin Pierce University and Saint Anselm College. The biology major has also been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the fall semester for his work in the classroom.

Stonehill finished its 2016-17 season with a 6-9 record overall, including 4-5 in the NE10, narrowly missing out on an 18th straight trip to the Conference tournament by way of the Conference's tiebreaker after finishing tied with Assumption College in the standings, but losing the head-to-head matchup in the final week of the season.
