TEANECK, N.J. (October 9, 20220)- The Stonehill College traveled to Fairleigh Dickinson University for a Sunday Northeast Conference matchup but fell to the Knights by a score of 7-2 at University Stadium.

The Details

  • Fairleigh Dickinson got the scoring started right away when Barbero generated his own offense and put his shot past Coutu for an early 1-0 lead.
  • Iago Luiz De Sousa-Vieira had a chance for the equalizer 15 minutes later (18:51) but saw his shot just miss the Knights net. Two minutes later, Fairleigh Dickinson tacked on their second goal of the half when Gomez put his shot in the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
  • The Knights ended up adding on two more goals to head into the half with a 4-0 lead at 29:44 and 44:44.
  • Fairleigh Dickinson's offense continued their momentum to start the second when they scored their fifth goal just seven minutes in (52:57) and then a penalty kick goal at 59:00.
  • Stonehill responded nine minutes later at the 61:07 mark when Fonseca sent a pass over to Woznicki who buried a shot past Barahona and cut the deficit to five (6-1). 
  • Later at 76:11, Woznicki struck again for his team-leading seventh goal after he received a great pass from Hadzic which made it 6-2. 
  • Despite the Skyhawks momentum, the Knights sealed the win with a late goal at 86:59 from Hamdaoua for the 7-2 victory. 
  • Coutu got the start for Stonehill and finished with three saves and to start the second, Dias Neto came in and posted two saves. For the last 11:59, Claffey made his collegiate debut and allowed just one goal.
