The Details

  • In the opening minutes of the first half, both sides played back and forth soccer trying to get on the board first. The Skyhawks had a solid chance early on as Woznicki sent a shot on net but was turned back by Fadida. Later at 11:28, the Hawks broke the scoreless tie when Lebiti put his shot past Dias Neto for the 1-0 advantage.
  • From that point, Stonehill had plenty of opportunities and outshot the Hawks 7-3 the rest of the half but could not find the equalizer. The purple and white had maybe their best opportunity toward the end of the first when Woznicki pushed down the field but Hartford's defense threw off his shot and caused the ball to go off target.
  • Dias Neto had a strong first half as he did his best to keep the Skyhawks within striking distance including a big-time save in the 27th minute diving to the right.
  • As the second half was underway, it was more of the same with neither side able to score thanks to strong defensive play and goaltending. However, at 61:31, Burke capitalized on a free kick putting past Lebiti for his first collegiate goal and evened things at one.
  • Nearly two minutes later (63:42), Foneseca gave the squad a 2-1 lead after he received a great pass from Ryan that set him up for the score. Foneseca's goal also is the first of his career.
  • Despite the one-goal lead, Cameron earned a penalty kick and put his shot past Dias Neto and tied the match at two.
  • Both sides continued to battle and at 83:42, Woznicki generated his own offense and buried the eventual game-winner with just a little over six minutes left. After Woznicki's goal, Stonehill's defense did the rest and did not allow a shot the rest of the contest for a Stonehill 3-2 victory.
  • Overall on the day, Stonehill held a 23-12 shot advantage on Hartford. The squad also held a 9-4 edge in corner's including a 6-2 spread in the second half.
  • Dias Neto has now posted five or more saves in both of his starts this season and has not allowed more than two goals in each start.
