How It Happened

  • Stonehill, making its Division I debut, stood strong defensively through a scoreless opening quarter and for over 23-minutes overall, before senior Samantha Spera broke through to open the scoring off a feed from Karoff 8:11 into the second quarter.
  • Hofstra carried the one goal lead into the second half, before taking control with a four-goal third quarter. Losiak scored both of her goals within a three-minute span in the opening 5:21 of the third, and then Karoff added her first goal of the season with 2:32 remaining in the frame.
  • Gorsse capped the third quarter surge, assisted by Karoff, with just 49-seconds remaining and then Hofstra closed out the scoring with a pair in the fourth.
  • Stonehill's best scoring chance came with under five minutes to play as senior captain Andrea Caradonna saw her shot stopped by Reilly off a rebound of an attempt from junior All-American Raegan Hickey.
  • The stop produced Stonehill's first penalty corner of the game, but the Skyhawks were unable to convert.
