EASTON, Mass. (October 26, 2022) - The Stonehill College women's cross country team had two spotlight runners recognized by the Northeast Conference (NEC) today for their performance at its final tune-up for the NEC Championships at Central Connecticut State University last weekend.

Seniors Victoria Lombardi (Peabody, Massachusetts/Peabody Veterans Memorial) and Elizabeth Marshall (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) were recognized by the Conference as NEC Prime Performers for their efforts at the CCSU Mini-Meet in New Britain, Connecticut, last Friday.

Lombardi turned in a top-ten finish for the second time at an NCAA Division I meet this fall to lead Stonehill to a fifth-place team finish. She finished seventh overall with a time of 10:15 on the 3k course. Marshall added a top 20 finish at the meet, placing 16th in 10:32 on the 3k course.

The women, who finished 19 points behind fellow NEC member Merrimack College (103) with their 122 points, were also edged by Central Connecticut State (67) but finished ahead of UMass Lowell (sixth), Quinnipiac University (seventh), the University of Hartford (eighth), Fairfield University (ninth), and Fairleigh Dickinson University (tenth).

Stonehill finishes their 2022 season as the team makes school history by being the first program to compete for a Northeast Conference Championship at the NEC Cross Country Championships, hosted by Saint Francis (Pa.) University at the B&D Acres Course in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, on Friday, October 28, at 11 a.m.
