Lombardi Finishes in the Top 10 Overall

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. (October 21, 2022) – Stonehill College senior Victoria Lombardi turned in a top ten finish for the second time at an NCAA Division I meet this fall to lead the Skyhawks to a fifth place team finish at the CCSU Mini-Meet, hosted by Central Connecticut State University this afternoon.

Stonehill finished with 122 points for it's fifth place finish in the three-kilometer race, with Siena College taking first with 54. The University of Connecticut was second with 56 points, while host and fellow NEC member Central Connecticut State was third with 67 points.

Highlights

Four Skyhawk runners had exceptional times during today's meet:

  • Lombardi placed seventh in the field overall with a time of 10:15 for her second top ten finish this fall - both coming at Division I meets. Lombardi ran a very strong race on the shorter 3k course, and ended up finishing near some of the top women that will be competing against next weekend at the NEC Championships.
  • Senior Elizabeth Marshall finished in the top 20 with a 16th place finish in 10:32.
  • Freshman Ava Cote placed 28th, crossing the finish line with a time of 10:42.
  • Freshman Emily Young ran a solid race with a time of 10:48, placing 32nd.

"We held out a few of our top women this week to allow them a weekend to rest before the NEC meet.  This also gave a few of our other athletes, along with the younger athletes a chance to step up to a scoring position.  The freshmen did a great job." - Coach Karen Boen.
