Stonehill Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors for Fifth-Straight Semester

EASTON, Mass. (February 16, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's swimming program, under the direction of head coach Matthew Distler, has been named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the fifth-straight semester for having a grade point average over 3.0 during the fall.

In their third season after being added as the College's 22nd varsity athletic program in September 2019, Stonehill earned a 3.51 grade point average for the fall 2022 semester – good for fourth among the Northeast Conference programs recognized. The Skyhawks are among 803 teams from 479 institutions to be best selected for the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2022 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Fall 2022 team grade point averages and represent 19,426 student-athletes.

            Stonehill is in the midst of its second official season in the pool, having recorded a 3-7 overall dual meet record, including 1-3 against NEC competition. The Skyhawks are next scheduled to return to the pool on February 21-25 to compete at their first NEC Swimming & Diving Championship to be hosted at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

            Founded in 1922, the CSCAA, is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
